This is our gate keeper posing with one of the cooks, Li Ma Ma. In china their names are reversed so their surnames come first.
The Gatekeeper got excited when the camera came out. He likes Mike alot and wanted to pose with him as well. Mike teaches chinese, and works mixing glaze, and clay tests for us to use. He also makes some very nice pots.
I had some people ask what I was drinking yesterday. I am drinking green tea which I really enjoy here in China. That is one thing that I have realized stinks in America (the tea). The tea is pretty much all looseleaf and when you figure out how to make a good cup it can be very tasty and healthy. It makes me feel good and gives me energy. I am getting a bit hooked truthfully and need to cool it because I am drinking like 6-8 cups a day now. This is a big cup too. I am attached to it as well. Dave made it while he was here. It has a blue celadon glaze on it that got hit with some ash from the wood kiln. I really like the fish and the way it feels too.
This is another chinese birthday cake. Karlee and myself went and picked this tasty treat up tonight after class. It had a very orangey taste and the fruit on it was delicious. Everything you see on this cake is edible except the card with writing. The plastic looking things are chocolate and the rest is fruit. The people at the store even gave us free birthday candles. In China their age actually includes the time spent in the womb so when we ask some ones birthday here they usually say their chinese age and their american age which are most likely one year apart.

I like the look of that tea cup. The fish are sweet. I need to drink more tea and less coffee! Is it too early for new year's resolutions???
You are going to have to convince me about the tea thing. Mom:)
